Cooks Garage
About This Spot
Pulling into Cooks Garage feels like stepping into a vibrant rest stop where the spirit of the open road meets the warmth of home-cooked comfort. Nestled just off US-87 in Lubbock, this bar and grill greets guests with an unhurried, easygoing rhythm—a place where conversation flows as naturally as the music drifting through its retro-inspired rooms.
The atmosphere here hums with a genuine love for Americana and classic cars, reflected in the vintage neon signs and automotive memorabilia that line the walls. It’s a lively but inviting space, where the occasional live band fills the air without drowning out the easy banter around the tables. Whether you’re settling into the bar area or finding a spot by a window, there’s a sense of thoughtful design in how each corner welcomes both friends catching up and families unwinding after a day on the road.
Cooks Garage doesn’t just serve meals—it offers moments. Plates arrive laden with the kind of hearty fare that feels familiar but never dull. Think indulgent bites that pair perfectly with a cold margarita or a local beer, whether it’s a stacked burger with all the fixings, crispy chicken fried to golden perfection, or savory street tacos that strike a satisfying balance between simple and bold. And when it’s time to wind down, desserts like rich cheesecake or a slice of warm cobbler provide a quiet, sweet ending that complements the friendly hum of the place.
There’s a subtle magic in how Cooks Garage combines comfort with character—where the past’s charm meets today’s open-table welcome. It’s a spot that invites you to slow down, soak in the atmosphere, and savor both the food and the shared human moments that turn an ordinary meal into something worth remembering.

What a fun place! We had lunch here on a Sunday. They had live music that was enjoyable, you could still enjoy the conversation at the table and the music. We sat in the bar area the music was in the connecting room - open area. We will be back.

Spur of the moment decision to stop in. I had a work friend who had a mustang in the car show so my son and I stopped by. We are huge car lovers. They had some awesome cars on display. We hadn’t eaten all day so we decided what the heck, we might as well. I got the Philly and he got one of the burgers. Legitimately the best Philly I have ever had. I got pepper jack cheese instead of Swiss and it was so good. We watched some football and pigged out. The service was pretty good. Had to wait a little long for the final check up to ask for the check and she didn’t refill my son’s tea but the food was so good we weren’t that bothered by it. Would be a really cool place to visit again. Lots of tvs, big seating areas, and just cool nostalgia pieces all around. Oh and it was under $30, no alcohol. So really worth it!

The absolute coolest place to eat. The vintage advertising (especially automotive related) is astounding. It’s like dinner and a show. I highly recommend it.

This is a must stop if traveling south of Lubbock. Passing through Sweetwater was worth it. The cars and music were fun, and all the neon signs made the West Texas drive so much fun.

I am so glad we went here. The atmosphere is great. We had great service and the food was good. I had a cheeseburger and it hit the spot. We would love to come back for a concert.

Fantastic place to listen to live music and enjoy food trucks. We personally had a blast. Place was packed, atmosphere was phenomenal. Turnpike Troubadours did not disappoint.

Coffee and Cars at Cook's Garage is an event I always look forward to! The first Saturday of each month is ear-marked for this which is typically from 8am-10am (and it's free!). You can bring your vehicle to show off while hanging out with other enthusiasts or just come by and visit and see all the hot cars and trucks!

Just had one of the best experiences here. We just came in just for dessert and coffee and to check this place out. Most servers frown when they know their table is only having dessert but Amber didn’t even bat an eye. She was so sweet and served our coffee in these cute little coffee cups. And told us that the cups came from the owners memaws house.
